About Eyecare

As Optometrist we have come a long way from where our profession started – testing vision and dispensing optical correction. We are proud of the qualifications we have earned, the technology we have invested in and the clinical and professional services we can supply.

An eye examination for a child is sometimes different to one designed for an adult, including images rather than letters means it does not matter if you child cannot yet read. Using certain pieces of equipment, such as the retinoscope, in the testing room ensures an accurate prescription is found as well as checking the overall health and development of the eyes.

Help & Advice

In the guidelines from the NHS, it is recommended eye examinations are carried out as every two years. An optometrist may request to see you sooner if you;
• Are diabetic
• Over 40 & have a family history of glaucoma
• Are over 70
• Under 16
• Suffer with vision issues

If you experience any flashing light and/or floaters in your vision, please contact us. It may be nothing, but it is always best to check any changes in your vision. We will then advise on the best thing to do.

Yes, a diabetic screening is just that. A screening. It is important to check the full health of the eye as well as the prescription and discuss any changes in your health.
Optometrists are extensively trained to be primary care givers. They specialise in detecting and correcting conditions that affect vision and eye care. They prescribe glasses and contact lenses and can deal with minor eye conditions. They can monitor glaucoma and detect general health conditions like diabetes and brain tumours.
